Fay Chandler

The image you see above is called “Outer World.”  It was created using mixed media by artist and The Art Connection founder, Fay Chandler.  This artwork was donated to the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts of MA, Inc. through The Art Connection.

Fay Chandler has had more than 30 solo art exhibitions.  Her work appears in collections in the Danforth Museum, the DeCordova Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Chrysler Museum of Art. Over the years she has produced numerous works, some of which have ended up in storage. This is what inspired her to found The Art Connection an organization that facilitates the donation of works between artists and nonprofits such as schools and homeless shelters. Now in its second decade, the Art Connection reaches out to a diverse audience, and has become a model in other cities including New York City and Washington, DC.

In her words, “A lot of great artwork exists that, for whatever reason, is not being seen. I speak selfishly when I say that The Art Connection provides me with a wonderful opportunity to get my art out into the community, in the company of the work of other artists. We encourage nonprofit organizations to select from a variety of pieces that artists have committed to give. The chosen work is then picked up and hung in areas of access to clients in a secure fashion.”

We’re proud to say that as of August 2008, The Art Connection has placed 251 of Fay’s artworks in local nonprofit organizations.

Thank you Fay – for your vision and your continued generosity!
